I have a cold and, therefore, cannot concentrate well enough to write a nice well-thought out entry this week. Instead, I offer the following list of things I'm thinking about.
Ugli fruit looks ike grapefruit with a skin disease. I bought one, but I'm not sure why. I'm still trying to get up courage to peel it.
Useful tidbits to know when hosting a high muckety muck include his preference for diet coke with caffeine and chocolate chip cookies. How many people counteract desserts with diet soda?
Vanilla is everywhere. I thought French vanilla applied only to ice cream, but French vanilla is everywhere. Vanilla doesn't even grow in France. And I'm not sure the French use it much. For ice cream, it means the ice cream has egg yolks. Pepperidge Farm French Vanilla Milano cookies were disappointing. Stick to mint or orange.
Anne of Green Gables and Pippi Longstocking are both mischievous redheads, but they're not at all alike. I haven't pinned down why, but I'm definitely a Pippi, not an Anne. Except I'm not a redhead.
It is surprisingly hard to find guidebooks about Bulgaria. Maybe not so surprisingly. I've still been unable to find bus schedules from Athens or Thessaloniki to Sofia or Plovdiv.
Telling a woman where a restaurant is by mentioning that it's "next to the strip club" is not likely to be particularly helpful. And, yes, I got lost getting there.
I still don't understand wny people get so worked up about gay marriage. However, marriage is a state by state issue, not a city one, so there are some legitimate legal issues with recent events in San Francisco.
Time for tea and early to bed, in hopes of shaking this thing off.
