Areas of Unrest

5 September 2004 - Life List Update

Yesterday was my birthday, but I haven't had time to do anything about really updating the general stuff on this site. I'll get to it sooner or later. In short, work has been hectic and free time minimal this past week. And what free time I did want to spend on web stuff, I've spent on my Italy, Greece, and Bulgaria Travelogue. I should probably give that another go-round of proof-reading, but I think it's reasonably coherent for now.

Anyway, I thought that my birthday meant it was a good time to do some updates on how I'm coming on life list items. I didn't actually complete any in the past year, though I've made progress on several. I went to the Summer Olympics and I figure that I'll wait for Vancouver in 2010 for the Winter Olympics, versus Torino in 2006. I added a few more major league stadiums to my collection, though I lost one when San Diego decided to open a new one. Which brings me to a brief diversion. How about them Yankees? Way to go - losing to Cleveland by a score of 22-0. The Source of All Evil in the Universe can continue to set records like that forever, as far as I'm concerned.

In the creating category, I made a dozen afghans and donated them to Afghans for Afghans. Not quite a homeless shelter, but the same general concept applies of providing them to people who need the warmth.

Finally, I've been stalled in my bible reading at Chronicles, which is tedious, but I will plod my way through sooner or later. I've read several of the Los Angeles Science FSociety's recommended books, notably Lloyd Alexander's Prydain series. And I've progressed even further on Howard Haycraft's mystery list, though some of the older titles will prove difficult to obtain copies of.

Hmmm, looking at this, it doesn't really look like I have made much progress. I need to think about that and where I should be re-focusing my energies.
