Areas of Unrest

18 December 2005 - Travel Day

As you can see, I decided to backfill the entries from the past couple of days.

Today was pretty much occupied with getting home from Phoenix. My fare was so discounted that Southwest wouldn't let me go standby on an earlier flight. But there was a decent tail wind and we got in about 20 minutes early, so it wasn't too bad. The B30 bus came just as I stepped out of the terminal at BWI, which was particularly good since it only runs every 40 minutes and is quite a bit cheaper than the train. It's an express to the Greenbelt Metro station. That's still a longish metro ride from home, but it is a cheap way home. Still, the trip from BWI takes nearly 2 hours, so it's only worth doing if the fare is a lot lower than from National or Dulles. In this case, it saved me about $300, so was well worth it.

I was home in time to watch Disney's presentation of "Once Upon a Mattress." I mostly enjoyed it, but I wish they hadn't left out "Very Soft Shoes." It was also nicely ironic to see Carol Burnett as the queen, since she had played Fred on Broadway, which was her first big break.

Now, it's time to unpack and pack for a possible business trip tomorrow. There's a good chance it will get canceled, but I can't quite count on that yet.
