I flaked out on the last couple of days of Holidailies, not so much out of a lack of things to write about, but because I wanted to use my time and energy on other things. I do a lot of writing at work and it's sometimes the last thing I want to do outside of work. I feel like I've been squandering my energy in a rather scatter-shot manner lately, and not focusing on the things that are really important to me. I've actually got rather a long list of things I meant to write about, so the leftovers will sooner or later show up here.
But I just don't feel like writing right now, so it won't be this week. If you really need something to read, may I suggest reading (or re-reading) some Dorothy L. Sayers? She was the first mystery writer I read as an adult. Having just reread The Documents in the Case, I find it striking that remembering the essential plot point made no difference in my reading pleasure. With a lot of mysteries, that little bit of trivia is fatal. But Sayers wrote so well that it doesn't matter if you know what's coming.
