There are a few things that make living in the Washington, D.C. area unique. When I go to other cities, like New York or London, the ads on the subway are for theatre or books or classes one could take. Only the Washington metro system has advertisements for combat aircraft.
I had another uniquely Washington moment after work today, when I stopped to run an errand in the city. I was heading into the Foggy Bottom station. There was a guy handing out some sort of magazine, which I later learned had a title something like "How to Reverse the 2007 Economic Crisis." What caught my attention, however, was that he was calling out, "Merry Impeachment, Happy New Congress" to everyone who entered the station.
I had an otherwise productive day, by the way, both at work and at home. I finished one knitting project and baked the cheesecake for my company potluck tomorrow. I'm still planning to make the cookie dough tonight for the cookies I need to bake tomorrow night. I might actually bake some of the cookies tonight, as the oatmeal rasperry bars should keep well. It's mostly the cookie cutter cookies that are an issue, since the dough needs to be refrigerated in order to roll out properly without sticking. I should probably also figure out where I put the rolling pin.
