Writing daily (with backfill for the days I couldn't) is fine for a while, but not enough really happens in my life to justify it. The weekly pattern seems more natural to me, so that's what I'm going back to. With maybe sporadic extra entries if something big happens, but we'll see.
I spent the day in my usual New Year's Day activities. Namely, running the shredder on old files. 1996 is history. Looking through things like credit card bills before shredding them reminds me that was the year of my first trip to the developing world (to India), something I now take more or less for granted. Now I've cleared out space in the file cabinet so I can go through the desk drawer and file away 2006.
I also started on going through the music collection. At one time, I was so obsessively completist that I decided to have the cast recording for every musical ever on Broadway. That included ones I hate. I'll give stuff one more listen, but it's pretty easy to decide that, say, "Aspects of Love" has got to go. No reason to clutter up my life with Andrew Lloyd Webber. I suspect this project will take as long as weeding out the library, which is now in its fourth year. Oh, well, it took me a lot of years to accumulate all this stuff.
