I'm sorry for the late posting. A few things got away from me over the weekend, so I just didn't get things quite finished.
First, my Chile and Easter Island travelogue is done. You can read about giant stone heads, my being interviewed by the Discovery Channel, and proper penguin-watching attire, among other things.
I had a fairly slow week at work, so needed a hectic weekend to balance it. I saw the movie "Music and Lyrics" which has a typically silly chick flick plot but was very enjoyable due to the usual charms of Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. It also has a nice lively pop music score. Which would have been stuck in my head had it not been replaced by the score from Carnival, which I saw at the Kennedy Center. That also has a silly implausible plot, but is charming and enjoyable. In particular, Ereni Sevasti made a nicely gamin Lili.
I've also progressed on planning my next vacation, which is a cruise of sorts. I phrase it that way since taking a mail ferry to remote towns in Labrador is not what normal people mean by a cruise. It is, however, something I've wanted to do for a long time. I'll also mention that I have another trip outside of the U.S. before that. My planning worked well and my proposal to get to a conference in Russia by outbriefing a working group I'm organizing at another conference got accepted. That's a major hassle in travel arranging, by the way, because of the complexity of the visa process. It's a good conference, though, and I knew I wouldn't get to go to it without submitting a paper so it's worth the aggravation.
Yes, I know this entry wasn't really much worth waiting for, but go read the travelogue.
