Mondays are always busy at work and today was particularly so. I did manage to run one errand, namely getting photos from Madrid developed. (I'd used a disposable camera because I was concerned about reported high pickpocketing rates.) I did also take a break to go down to the building holiday reception and get a cup of hot cocoa.
I ignored the cookies they served because I have something even better. Gapaguitos! These are animal crackers in the shapes of Galapagos wildlife. I mentioned the to a colleague whose sister is in Ecuador for two years and some magically showed up on my desk. They're not really any different in taste than any other animal cracker. But how often do you get to go around and ask people if they want to bite off the head of an endangered species?
We also have a renewed supply of Tim Tams for staff meeting, since another colleague just got back from two weeks in Australia. For the unacquainted, these are chocolate covered "biscuits" (i.e. cookies) and are pretty much the high point of Australian cuisine. Bringing back a couple of boxes is obligatory for anybody who makes the trip.
Now, all I need is for somebody to go to a meeting in Brussels, a city in which roughly every third business is a chocolate shop, to complete the international junk food pantheon.
