Areas of Unrest

19 December 2007 - How About a Song?

I had a busy day at work today, so I was pretty tired when I got home. That could have been an excuse to laze about, but I had already made plans for the evening. I was off to Jammin' Java to see The Tone Rangers, a local a capella group.

I've seen them perform a few times before and they're always fun. A lot of the reason is that they're obviously enjoying themselves on stage. They have two new members (and one of the older ones was not there, but he could just have been out of town for other reasons). They did a number of familiar songs (e.g. their very clever arrangement of "Viva Las Vegas") and some new ones. The highlights included their version of Weird Al's "One More Minute" (which I'd heard them do the very first time I saw them) and a Spanish Christmas carol with some, um, interesting lyrics by Gene Stromecki.

Overall, it was worth getting out of the house for and if I fall asleep at my late afternoon meeting tomorrow, well, I probably would have even had I not gone out tonight.
