Areas of Unrest

6 July 2008 - Carousels, Flower Gardens, and Life in General

I haven't managed to write anything on here in a while, but I have been busy ranting away on my live journal page. Looking back at that, I see that my life is its usual round of overcommitment.

I never mentioned the carousel outside the aquarium in Houston. All of the carousel animals were sea critters. I am, apparently, the only person who thinks the obvious thing to ride is a seahorse. In general, I like carousels which have animals other than horses, though I usually favor predators over fish. Not that I actually ride carousels.

I was also contemplating flower gardens and just wanted to note that it seems like nobody grows certain flowers any more. Has the gladiolus completely disappeared from North America? What about zinnias? I still see pansies and marigolds and, especially, daffodils. Jasmine has become way too popular, as have begonias. Where are the tiger lilies of yesteryears? And, yes, I know I am jumbling seasons together.

As for life in general, I resent the need for sleep. There's not a lot of point in complaining as I do this all to myself.
