Areas of Unrest

26 October 2008 - Not Getting Things Done

Friday involved one of the annual flurries at work, when we receive a 200+ page document and have just a few hours to figure out how we're going to respond to it. There was a lot of scurrying around, carrying pages down to other people's offices, asking if numbers were right and so on. We do, of course, manage to pull together everything we need, but it's rather crazy getting there.

Which is why it was probably good that the weather forecast was for torrential rain, which led me to cancel my tentative plans to go to Delaware for the weekend. I'm not sure how it was there, but the weather here yesterday was not exactly conducive to a pleasant stroll on the beach. I tried to look on the bright side of things and treat this as an opportunity to get caught up on things at home. Yeah, right. I slept a lot, read a lot, and did kakuro puzzles. I did get some absolutely essential household stuff done, but I'm nowhere near what I'd call caught up.

It's pretty pathetic when I have to count it as an accomplishment that I actually finished reading the Sunday newspaper on Sunday.
