I never got around to writing last weekend because I was too tired when I got back from going to Williamsburg for the storytelling festival (and a volksmarch). I did use the trip to listen to a few of the tapes that have been living in the car for ages. One storytelling tape was fine, but didn't break any new ground, so will probably go to the trade pile at the next Voices swap. (I forgot to bring it last night, sigh.) The other was the first Dire Straits album and I'm undecided about whether or not to hold onto it. The only really essential song on it is "Sultans of Swing." While the rest is pleasant enough, it's really much of a muchness. I'll hold onto it and rethink it in another year or so.
As for my stated September goals, listening to the tapes in the car sort of counts towards one of them. However, 50 minutes a week for reading the Bible is definitely too much. I'm still hoping to get through Ezekiel by the end of the month, but it will take a little bit of a push.
I have made some decluttering progress in the study nook, but I undid it by my tendency to use the floor of that area as kind of a staging area for things I acquire. So the tote bags (and other gimmes) from the National Book Festival are there to be processed, as are a few purchases I made today. I may need to work some on the den before I finish this, because that is the logical place to file away a lot of things.
I just keep telling myself that I didn't acquire all of this stuff overnight. If I take some action each day towards dealing with it, I might have an organized home by the time I die.
